Well people it's grooming time again & the question of "to pluck or not to pluck?"
Weeeeeeeell here's the thing guys: it's entirely up to you but be sure of one thing: Tweezing your eyebrows does NOT make you less manly, more girly, effeminate whatever, it's juuuust grooming people & has no effect on your sexuality no matter what your hockey coach says!
Ok, if you decide to take the plunge make sure you know what you're doing, whether you just want to tidy up a little or get rid of your unibrow take a little time so that you get it right the first time & don't have to hide for a month! One hint is to go to a proffessional the first time, that way you get the shape you want & can afterwards just take care of that shape & pluck away stray hairs plus of course you can get advice. But here's my guide:
1: Buy a good tweezer. I would definitely recommend investing in a good pair of tweezers that are sharp & gonna stay that way, that way you get a grip of the hairs & get them out on the first try. My favorite is the wide grip tweezer from Tweezerman
2: Take a warm shower or use a warm wash cloth to open pores, soften hairs & take away excess oils or creams that can cause the tweezers to slip. This will make the process easier & less painful
3: Decide on where you want to tidy up. If you've got a unibrow you don't have to take away all the hair, you can thin it out & get rid of the main offenders if you want. But a rule of thumb is that you shouldn't pluck any further out than the outer sides of the ball of your nose, otherwise you risk making the brows too femine. I would suggest that you try to stick to your natural shape & just tidy up the form a little so that you get a stronger brow rather than a Sophia Lauren look. Tweeze one hair at a time, that way you can keep a check on the shape & you avoid the risk of plucking a bunch of hairs at the same time & ending up with a bald spot! Always tweeze in the direction of growth, that way the hairs come away easier & there's less risk of them breaking off & leaving stubble.
4: I would strongly recommend that your steer clear of shaving your eyebrows, even the area between them. There are some that think this is better but you end up with stubble after about a day & you run a larger risk of getting ingrown hairs & that's just not fun.
5: If you have longer hairs or simply want to define the brows even more you can brush them up & into shape & then trim excess length from each brow checking proportions & being careful not to trim too much.
6: Finally if you have sensitive skin, & end up a little red after all that tweezing, use ice to reduce swelling & redness.
So there you go, those are my tips for boys brows! Like I said, grooming is a must these days & it DOESN'T make you less manly so away with you to the bathroom & TWEEZE!!
